Guarantee/FAQs

OUR GUARANTEE

We believe in our products, and we want you to believe in them too. However, we know guitarists can be fickle beasts. So we want you to be comfortable with your purchase. Howling Monkey Guitar Picks will give you 7 days to try out our pick. If they aren't as we describe them, just ship them back and we will refund your money*. *Personalized and customized picks cannot be returned for a full refund unless we didn't make it to the order you expected. Please contact us if you are unsatisfied and we will work something out.

CARING FOR YOUR PICK

Tagua lasts a long time if it's treated properly. Here are a few tips to keep your pick in the best possible shape:

  • Please do not try to bend the pick; it may snap if too much pressure is applied
  • Do not put it in your wallet. Try not to put it in the same pocket as your cell phone
  • Try not to send it through the washing machine; If it does get wet, please allow it to dry for a few hours in room temperature before playing again.
  • It may be an organic nut, but don't try to eat it. Seriously.
  • If you've played your pick enough that the tip or edges aren't as sharp as you want it to be, go ahead and use an Emory board on the edges. You'll lose some coloring and some material, but your attack will return.
FAQs
The answer is yes. That's the natural material reacting to the heat and moisture in your hand. The thinner the pick, the more it curls. The pick will curl around your finger, but after you put it down it will flatten back out. However, if your pick is curled without you playing it, please contact us.
It depends on a few factors. As all of our guitar picks are hand-made, it takes time to produce each one, and while we try to keep up with our production, stock varies with the time of year and other factors. We also personalize picks in batches, so as more orders come in, more orders get personalized. In short, personalized orders take about 2-4 days to process.
Shipping within the USA is processed by First Class Mail in a padded envelope with tracking information (which we provide to you once the package is shipped). East coast shipments can be 1-3 days, where the rest of the continental USA is about 2-5 days. International shipments depend on your country's customs policies.
That's because we processed your shipment, but it hasn't been scanned by the US Postal Service or the tracking information hasn't been updated on their system. It can take 12-24 hours for the USPS tracking system to process and update the status of a package. Please be patient.
Absolutely. In fact we've shipped to every continent on the planet (except Antarctica, but no one lives there)! When you get to the shipping options, skip the red box that says the shipping option isn't available, and choose the international option below that.
Our picks are 2.0mm and above. Many guitar players are used to thin picks which flex and the most common thickness is 0.73mm. So, our picks are considerably thicker. We don't make picks less than 1.8mm because of the organic material we use. The material is not meant to be flexed. Because the material is very dense, and produces a clear vibrant tone, the picks feel great even at this thickness. We've seen countless players convert from their thin flexible picks to thick picks after making the switch.
We understand your concern. These do seem a bit expensive. However, when you're used to paying 35 cents for a plastic pick, those plastic picks may last a few songs or not even a set during a gig. While every player is different and playing styles factor into the life of picks, we've had players using one pick for a year or more. Others may last a few months. And unlike plastic picks, when ours wear down, you can bring the tip and bevels back to life with a little sandpaper. Also, we make every pick here in Rochester, NY. No outsourcing. Our process to make one pick takes nearly 12 steps - which calculates to about 10-20 minutes to make just one pick.
First, dry your tears. Second, it does happen. The meat of the tagua nut is gelatinous before it dries, so this may result in some inconsistencies in the density of each pick. Plus, each guitar player has a different style which may lend to more breakage for one person over another. If your pick breaks within 7 days of receiving it, please contact us immediately. We strive to give the best customer service available, and we most likely will be able to replace your pick quickly.
Give it some time. There's usually a delay between when we print your shipment label until we get it in the mail, and there's always a delay between the USPS.com's tracking system and where the package actually is. For international shipments, if it seems like the package has stopped in Chicago IL, please be patient. International shipments sometimes don't get updated once they are out of the country. It's something that's out of our control.
